1,000 ascents for the Northrups

Bonnie Northrup led the llama train on her 400th climb. That's Denny, eager for his pancake lunch.

John and Bonnie Northrup have been leading the LeConte Lodge crew since 2010. They marked a milestone on June 27, when John made his 588th climb and Bonnie her 412th. That's an even 1,000 for the first couple of LeConte.

The only woman who has climbed Mount Le Conte more than Bonnie is the late Margaret Stevenson, who retired after her 718th climb in 1997.
