Congratulations on a 46-mile Tour

Most hikers who attempt the Tour de Le Conte either start or finish in Greenbrier, because it is so remote from the other trailheads. Yet Scott Leslie chose a fresh route when he completed the tour Oct. 27. He started at 3:36 a.m. at Newfound Gap and went up the Boulevard, down Alum, shuttled through Gatlinburg to Greenbrier, went up Brushy Mountain and Trillium, down Trillium, up Rainbow, and down Bullhead, finishing at 11 p.m. That’s a 46-mile route with 11,000 feet of vertical gain that took 19 hours, 23 minutes, and nine seconds. Jae Lumley accompanied Scott for the first two legs. Scott is the 16th person to complete the Tour this year. For a list of the 59 Tours reported, click here.
